15th – 16th June, 2026
Birmingham
Hosted by the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Birmingham
The Britain-Nepal Academic Council (BNAC) invites scholars and practitioners from all disciplines and all career-stages, as well as the curious general public, to participate in the 23rd BNAC Nepal Study Days in Birmingham on 15th -16thJune, 2026. We welcome proposals for contributions that share research findings related to Nepali society, economy or geography, the broader Nepali cultural world, or relating to the Nepali diaspora. BNAC is well known for its interdisciplinary focus, and as such, research from all disciplines is welcomed. We also welcome transdisciplinary and action-research that engages with non-academic partners across Nepal, as well as work related to academic teaching in relation to Nepal.
This year we are looking to combine traditional paper presentations with other formats of sharing and discussion, thus we invite participation under the following themes:
- Oral Paper presentations (each of 15 minutes + 5 minute Q&A)
- Panel discussion (chaired discussions involving invited 3-4 panellists, lasting 1 hour)
- Pitch your work (‘speed talks’ sharing your ideas for work/work-in-progress, followed by facilitated feedback from the audience)
- Poster Presentations are also welcome from all participants especially from post graduates.
Participation is in-person only.
If you are interested in participating, please complete this form and send your abstract (not exceeding 300 words) to the Organiser at: bnacstudyday@gmail.com
We will select participants to represent a balance of the formats above, as well as a balance of disciplines, topics and career-stages. Accepted papers, panels, pitches and posters will be advertised in advance of the conference.
