With a changing pandemic situation as vaccines are rolled out, many researchers based both in Nepal and overseas are considering the resumption of fieldwork on the ground in Nepal.

The Britain Nepal Academic Council has decided to host an informal discussion forum on the practicalities and challenges of conducting fieldwork in Nepal at present. It will be an opportunity for those who have resumed fieldwork to share their experiences, while also allowing researchers planning to initiate research to share their concerns. Discussion points will include safety in the field of researchers and research participants, completion of university health and risk assessment documentation and ethical concerns.

We hope this discussion will be useful for doctoral students in particular who are due to start fieldwork in the coming year, as well as established researchers who have project related fieldwork on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
